I had the one on the passenger side making a lot of noise on our fairly new RV. I ended up having to replace it because it locked up. It did wait until we returned from a 2800 mile trip and failed in my driveway. I had to identify the system as I could not find any type of manufacturer tag. Hopefully yours is just the bolt hitting as suggested.
