I removed the word "furnace" and "valve" to quote your statement and make it generic. Seems like this sentence is spoken by owners of RVs all over the planet. - ajridingExplorer IIOn my furnace the "valve" went bad. The valve controls the flow of propane automatically. I bought one off ebay and installed it myself. I had to take the furnace out to get my screwdriver or wrench in position to remove the valve, so was a lengthy job, but not really that hard.
- SDcampowneroperExplorerfurnaces and water heaters will attempt to light 3 times. You hear the 'clicking' cycle 3 times that means all is well with controls, but no ignition, so it goes into lockout.
If you are certain you have propane -a stove high burner test, - then go outside and listen to the light attempt. Look at the exhaust. These will tell you if you have arestricted air flow, such as an insect nest in the burner tube or an over air flow which blows out the flame.
Altitude is a factor in either case, for low altitude restricting the air intake with a bit of tape( fingers over one or another ) intake until the burner lights smoothly with no whoose 'jet ' sound.
At high altitude, it could be starving , enough air to activate controls yet not enough for settled combustion. You would hear a soft attempt to light perhaps see soot. Another sign of restricted burner tube or too high propane pressure.
Consult a professional. - DarkSkySeekerExplorerI had to set my thermostat "differential" (the difference between the room temp and the set point) to a higher number than 1. Then my clicking went away.
- ksg5000ExplorerTry lighting some burners on the stovetop - might clear the air out of the gas line which can interfere with heater igniting. If the stove top won't ignite maybe your out of gas. Sometimes turning on the propane too quickly can create issues - if all else fails turn off the propane and then slowly turn it back on.

Oh, ain't that the truth! - jdc1Explorer IIYep. As we age, we forget to do the obvious.....turn the gas on and purge it.... CRS gets the best of us.
- Sail switch is working due to the fact the ignitor is working.
- rrupertExplorerCheck the intake and exhaust vents for obstructions such as bugs, spider webs, etc. If the air can't flow properly the sail switch will sense that and not allow the furnace to light. The burner orifice will not light if it is dirty or obstructed. But if you can hear the ignition clicking I would do as above mentioned and check that gas is getting to the furnace.
- Gas valve not opening.
Check continuity on gas valve coils.
Poor connection on circuit board. Clean multi-wire connector
