Fuzion 342 vs. Cyclone 3110 (upgrading)

Hello there! We bought our first RV in January, which is a Puma 21 ft toy hauler. We went small since we didn't know how we and the three teens would like Rving. We have gotten much use out of the 21 foot and have fallen in love with the RV lifestyle. Naturally we are looking to upgrade.

Our first step is to get a new pick up truck which will be a one ton dualie.

For the RV, we like the fuzion and the cyclone.

Fuzion 342 because we like the storage in the garage and the hooks for mudding clothes. Double axle, triple slide.

Cyclone 3110 IMO is prettier in inside. I like how the kitchen opens to both the garage and the living area. I like the bedroom better because it has side tables.

We store it in a storage unit, so I have to check specs to see if they both will fit.

I assume other people have looked at both brands. We went to Cajun Palms in Louisiana and it seems for large toy haulers, it is either cyclone or fuzion.

Would anyone have any insight to help with this decision. My husband goes mudding, so at least once a year this will go to mud nationals and the rest of the time will be state parks or RV resorts.

Any insight? Thank you very much.
  • Geez, I could start another discussion: Ford vs. Ram. Lol. We currently have an F150 pulling the puma, so tomorrow we are either going to look at trucks or RV or both. There is a dealership about 2 hours away in Texas that has the exact fuzion we want, and the place where we bought the Puma is an hour away and has Cyclones (but no 3110 in stock).

I told DH about the China bombs and he laughed so hard at the name, but man what a frightening concept. Hammer, did you have one explode, or just looked into it?

This is basically the one we have now: http://www.berrylandcampers.com/toy-haulers/puma/puma-21tuc-toy-hauler-n045178.html (sleeps 6, two queens come down from the lift in the garage).

Here are examples of the two models we are looking at:

    Fuzion 342: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ONE-LEFT-FUZION-RV-FZ342-TOYHAULER-LOADED-MONSTER-PACK-MAKE-AN-OFFER-/360698109755?pt=RVs_Campers&hash=item53fb485f3b&vxp=mtr

    Cyclone 3110: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CYCLONE-3110-TOY-HAULER-TRIPLE-SLIDE-FIFTH-WHEEL-LOWEST-PRICE-EBAY-/130949937880?pt=RVs_Campers&hash=item1e7d397ad8

BTW, the cyclone does have a TV in the bedroom. Couldn't see it in the photo.

Thanks, everyone! For the new RVers, women, I did cry the first three times we went out in the RV. LOL. But this last time I made it through without crying!!! LMAO. I'm a city girl who has lived in the country for 13 years and I'm finally getting the hang of things. There is definitely a learning curve when starting out in an RV. But we have had such tremendous quality family time that it has really convinced me that this is where we need to be right now! I am reminded that my teens are smart, delightful people.

ETA: we will be towing a Polaris Razor when Dh goes to mud nationals and golf cart when we go to the resorts. Plus two mountain bikes and an adult tricycle. So stuff, but nothing major. We also have two large dogs.

Oh, P.S. does anyone have a party deck on theirs? Thoughts? I really like the idea.

Had this experience a couple weeks ago. A few months ago I looked into tires for our 322 to get a good load rating it seems you have to go to a 17.5 rim and G rated tire but you have to watch your speed 65 mph limit but that is all trailer tires.
  • BTW, we were sold on the fuzion 342 but decided to look at cyclones too and now we don't know what to do!!
  • Nice looking rig looking at the floor plan. I had a road warrior by heartland 2011 model year Nothing but trouble that should have been fixed easily by the dealer. I swore I'd NEVER have another heartland. But The more I think about it you should pick your favorite floor plan then research your dealers and see who has the best service department. Then make your decision.

I will NEVER have another Heartland product!

Does anyone know how the dealerships work? Can I buy out of town and if it needs work, bring it to a local place (like autos)? Obviously, I prefer to support local business, just am curious how this works. Don't want to offend anyone.

As for the family, we have a son age 16 and a son age 14 and a daughter age 14 and I'm the shortest person in the house now at 5'4". The 16 year old is getting taller and taller by the minute and is probably 5'9" now. This is another reason why we have to get rid of the 21 foot-- son said he felt like "elf" taking a shower. Lol. We are rapidly outgrowing our Puma!
  • You will probably find an equal mix of responses here between the 2 trailers you've mentioned. I'm very happy with my Fuzion. If I had been able to see a 342 in person I would probably have picked it instead of my 360. You are already ahead of the game in doing research. I didn't know about the tires when I bought (not yet had any problem). Some new buyers have the dealership replace the "Stock tires" with a tire of their choice many choosing to go with an LT tire. Basically just pick the model that fits your family the best!
  • Thanks, yeah, I do think we like the cyclone better in terms of features (except I believe the 3110 doesn't have a bedroom TV, good for me, bad for DH). I did a search on the cyclone and was stunned at the amount of people complaining about tires shredding, inadequate brakes, etc.
