Garage ramp door question

I had the ramp door patio set up during a rain storm and began to wonder if I should worry about water intrusion as I am guessing the main construction material is plywood and I am sure they are not made water proof.
  • I believe the patio ramp doors are a different door than a regular ramp door, so I would assume (ha) that they thought about rain on the patio. But let me know what you find out since we have a party deck also.
  • I'd assume that the inside of the garage doors will do better if they stay reasonably dry.

I close mine when its raining or looking like it'll rain.
  • Is it coated on the inside of the door?

Is that coating cracked, or does it look water tight?

Did the manufacture use regular plywood - or Marine Grade (they type they do use) that has water resistant glues?

What about the outside panel of your plywood door? Does it leak water into the door/wall? Since it is outside 24/7, I would worry just as much about that surface leaking in water as the inside surface leaking water to the door.

What about the garage floor? Water tight surface? Or something like a sponge that absorbs water?

I think that you do not think the development team ever camped with your RV in the rain before building it, or think about people who are out in the rain loading quads, motorcycles, and others?

I think it should be fine.

    Fred.
