You are correct, this is a wireless but the signal strength doesn't reach through the RV or very far. With the 50' extension and the transmitter mounted in the front compartment the picture is solid and clear and the transmitter is protected.
I had some experience with the Voyager wireless setup. It does have a nicer camera and better signal stregth but does get fuzzy with any kind of weather problems plut it is an extra monitor if you are using a GPS.
