I have the BC 20 and did exactly what your talking about. Only difference is I ran it up high and the wire across the roof and then put the transmitter in my front vent cover. Then tapped into a running light on the front of the trailer. Only issue is when your driving at night occasionally the signal will get interrupted for a sec and switch your gps to the back up camera. You then need to tap the back button on the GPS. Originally I did not have the extension cable and the problem was much worse but now with the receiver at the front of my trailer it only happens once every few hours driving at night. I don't do all that much night driving anyway so it works just fine.
