My 5th Wheel is 8,500 empty and just under 10,000 loaded up. I pull it with a 1 Ton Ram with the 6.4 Hemi. It does fine and although I don't lose any speed, the engine will scream a little going up steep inclines. With that being said, I don't think I would want to tow anything much heavier with my truck. In the end, you have to justify things financially. It's easy for all of us to tell you what to do with your money. My advice is this. If you're using your camper as a way to travel the country and you're going to be putting on 10,000 miles a year....Get a Diesel. If you're a Weekend Warrior and traveling distances of less than 1,000 each trip....Go with the Gas truck. Don't go broke to have some fun.
