The extra premium is just the price of admission. Especially for a Dodge. (Experience there, I love Dodges). The diesel doesn’t make the body any better, or the ball joints more reliable or the interior last Longer, or the paint not peel.

EASE of selling. Reality my truck is worth at minimum 7k more than the same gasser.

Actually the options don't add up to that much. The Sport package only added $350 of value and about the same for the LOW mileage.

Entry level 5ers and high end 5ers both work for camping. One might just be a little nicer and a little easier. I think that is what we are really arguing about with TV power.

Well the question by the OP is towing a near 15,000# 5er with a gas engine, that is near the max tow rating for gas even with 4.30 gears. With a diesel he would well within max tow rating with 3.73, or even 3.42’s.

It was interesting to note that it did not take the OP too long to notice that the diesel drivers all carry on bout how that is the only way to go and like wise the gasser guys do pretty much the same. But it is my opinion that the diesel drivers constantly lurk for a chance to bash a gasser. :B Nothing else to say they have to lean on the "S" word (screamer).

This might not apply but note that scads of people are satisfactorily driving all over the place in Ford V-10 gas Class A motorcoaches with GVWRs up to 26,000 pounds and GCWRs of 30,000.

I've got the 6.0, and it as been great for 225k miles, but I tow 8k lbs. I don't think you will be happy at 10k lbs +. Maybe the new 6.6, or the 6.4, but I think the 7.0 is under powered for that weight.

Mine coming up a 7% grade yesterday, I was at 5000 RPMs, doing 45mph, and that was all she would do pulling 8k lbs.

this is a hard question for me, I love gas engines. I love the simplicity of them. They are fun to drive and they sound great.

I had a V10 F350 and it was a great motor. With 4:56 gears I would tow your weight with my old dually.

I would be inclined to wait until the specs are released on the 7.3 Godzilla.

A newer diesel answers all questions though.
