Gateway vs Mountaineer

Ok, it's down to the Keystone Mountaineer 356TBF and the Heartland Gateway 3650BH. The Gateway falls more in my price range with everything I want except the 6 point leveling and most I see with no king bed.(king can be ordered) The Mountaineer has it all but seems to be around 8 to 10 thousand more than the Gateway.

If I can do without the auto level how do they compare?
  • I believe the Heartlands come with shocks on their axles which really softens your ride. Compare your tires, I would suggest(if in your budget) to upgrade your tire to the "G"'s that is offered. Both are really nice and I'm also looking at the Mountaineer and Big Horn.
  • Did some looking. The 6 pt installed at the Lippert factory $4870. They have 12 authorized places around the country to install them. No mention of pricing. The 4 pt electric is $3k, you install.

That beats the $10k difference in the 2 RV's.
  • I don't know but I seem to remember the auto level system can be installed for in the $4k range.
  • Auto level is a fantastic feature.
Auto Level is a bit of a luxury feature and not totally necessary. Nevertheless in 2014 I would not buy a new rig without it.
Lack of auto level on a new 5'er would be a dealbreaker for me

That's the way I'm leaning right now, just seems the better deal. Thanks
