The best way I have found to keep your carb from getting gunked up is to drain the fuel out of the bowl after every outing. I have been doing it ever since I bought my TH and have never had a carb problem.
I run the green Stabil and 87 octane fuel in mine for what it is worth. Now I did not start using Stabil for the generator but for the fuel station so the gears dont swell and stop working. Seems to be working so far!
