Higher octane fuel run cleaner and better under a load.
And lasts longer before going bad.....
As for the cost such as that other member said, its 20 cents a gallon more, and our rhino runs on ethel, or for you young folk, premium....I suggest Mobil Premium.
Sure your Rhino runs on premium, and it will run just as good or better on the fuel it was designed to run on, read your manual....87 octane. Your Rhino is a very low 9.1:1 compression ratio, so, unless you've significantly advanced your ignition timing or raised compression your just wasting money and feeding the oil marketing machine. I'm not trying to be combative, just trying help people from facts and experience. It's like people who buy 89 octane rated fuel, there is never a reason to purchase 89, but people who's engine's require 87 do it because they think it's just a little better than 87 due to effective marketing.
LIke others have said, if your low compression motor runs better on high octane fuel, then you have other problems that will eventually lead to the motor failing prematurely.
Unless your Rhino (or genset for that matter), looks like my most recent build (pictured), you don't need higher octane. This motor does require it due to boost which results in higher cylinder pressures which creates more heat from the friction of the compression of air/fuel, so you must have a higher flash point fuel to resist pre-detonation. It's pretty simple when you think about it. There, I just bought you a free lunch every time you fill up! (or at least a snack)
Hold on cowboy......Ca fuel is completely differant than your states fuel, based on what the AQMD says and the formula they use....
And its all based on " Hyper Framic Molecular Expansion ", so in a nut shell premium fuel is a better choice....
And my rhino, genny runs better and the fuel lasts longer so there Mr Smarty Pants
