I guess it comes down to how often you will use it & how much money you are happy spending for the convenience of pushing a button.
I have a 6kw diesel genny in my boat & hardly ever used it. Should have bought a 3 or 4 kw genny. Didn't know much back then.
For the 5er we have what most have, a 2kw Honda, & are very happy with it. We are not avid drycampers but we do like music festivals which are often dry camping onsite for 3 or 4 days.
For the price of an onboard genny you can get a portable genny, upgrade your battery bank, install a nice pure sinewave inverter charger & have money left over.
