Hi new friends. Buying a 33.2 fifth trailering it with a super duty ford 250.
Salesman said to get 2 honda generators 2 2000. watt generators and it will run everything. True or not? a/c and everything else? If not then what do you suggest?
need it light enough to move, pick up.., you get the idea. Thanks so much!
another thing we have. a short cab and are getting a special slider fifth wheel, should I worry its gonna trash my truck? Buying everything from Camping World!
The 2 x 2000w generators will run 1 13.5k A/C and a few lights, but not much else at the same time. It will =probably= run a 15k A/C and =nothing= else, including the power converter to charge your battery(ies). Also, they don't run very long at full load, so you'd likely want an extended-run fuel tank or you'll be getting up a couple times a night to refuel them...assuming that you're running the A/C at night. At about 50 lbs each, they =are= easily portable, which is a real upside. There are non-Honda alternatives that are cheaper.
A slider hitch is nice but, IMO, not always necessary. Even with a slider, you =will= hit your truck at some point when backing up; the slider just makes it happen a little later. My personal setup (see my sig) will =not= hit at full lock in either direction going forward. I =have= taken out my back window when backing up and turning one way and looking the other.
Camping World is definitely not my first choice for a vendor, and a lot of other people share my opinion. I know you can save money on the generators buy buying elsewhere. Same for the hitch. You'll at least save significant sales tax if you buy out of state and have shipped. The =only= way you might be ahead would be if they're making you a package deal, but I'd still price out each item and see what you can get it for elsewhere.
Good luck!
