Getting the best price on a toy hauler

Hey all --

In the next coupe of days I'm going to be going to Toy Hauler Liquidators to buy a new toy hauler. Anyone have experience buying from Toy Hauler Liquidators?

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for me to get the best price on it. The list price is $52,128 and they're asking $39,950. I was told that if you can get about 30% off from the list price that you were getting a good deal. The prices that I just listed are about 30% already so I think the dealers are just getting wise and upping the list price to make the asking price about 30% so that they can get all they're asking.

Does anyone know how else I can determine if I'm getting a good deal on the unit or not? Are there any tactics that I can employ to help put the advantage in our hands?

Any help, tips, suggestions, or anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

-Alli

  • have you found the hauler priced cheaper anywhere else?

go in armed wtih 'lower' prices in your hands to show them? helps if you can do that.

are ya trading anything? if so ask for more on the trade also.

Also---if you can't get more money off (cause 30% off list is kinda about all 'they want' to do), be sure to ask for 'stuff'. throw in a patio matt. maybe get some other things out of their store for your new camper. It is easier for them to give you things then to 'take off the price'.

best of luck! never shopped your store mentioned but heck it is all about tactics when buying :)
  • $12K off a $50K trailer is a good amount. You will find the biggest discounts are on the most expensive trailers, especially if they are a leftover model. 2015 trailers won't have the incentive for heavy discounts until next year. Shop the model on the internet to see what others are asking for to get a better feel. BTW, NO ONE pays retail for trailers, so the MSRP can be misleading as you suggested. If you can get pre-approved financing, that's a big bonus when negotiating though there may not be much negotiating when dealing with a liquidator/wholesaler.

It's your money, if the deal doesn't look right, feel right or smell right, walk away. The biggest advice I can give is to be patient and educated. We shopped for 3 years before finding the closest thing to the right trailer last month...
