Trying to get some ideas, so lets see what you have please.

check the towing guides that trailer life puts out and you will have a start on what the gross weight a specific truck can handle. if you don't like where the def tank is on the chevy, look at ford. theirs is next to the fuel tank and is filled from outside the truck, not under the hood. why stick with just gas? compare both and see which pulls what you are thinking about. If you limit your searching now, you will be sorry later. As a side note, I pulled my current TH with a 2500 gas and got 6mpg. Switched to a F250 Diesel and now get 12mg.
