Good Trailers

With all of the talk about what trailer is the worst, has the worst support and so on, it is time to talk about what went right. We have a 2007 Arctic Fox which had three, yes three problems. The dealer fixed them and now almost seven years later, we are very happy with it. We haven't had any of the problems that you read about here, and when we did have a problem, I called Northwood and they helped to find the problem and sold me the part at their cost. The was long after the trailer was out of warranty. We haven't had any of the problems that you see here all of the time. Sure, things wear out and they are replaced, but nothing like some of the stories you see here.

  • We owned a Dutchmen Sport for 3 years, never had any problems with it. Second trailer was a Keystone Springdale. After a couple issues at the VERY beginning, and dealer fixed, not a hint of problem for the next 8 years, except hail broke out the skylight vents...but that was not the camper's fault. Now we're on our 3rd TT for 2 weeks. No problems with our Outback, other than finding a way to keep our cats from popping open the screen door .. which I solved!

In our younger years we maintained very little on our Kit Companion trailer. We just didn't know any better and the only thing we ever did to it was flip the axel for increased clearance. Everything always worked well, and we beat the heck out of it camping in remote areas in Idaho. It saw more old logging roads then paved roads. It was not self contained.

Our current TT we bought from a coworker in early spring )- we've had it out 6 times this summer. It's 6 yrs old, and absolutely everything worked perfect on it from day 1. Hub replaced the brakes right away as he felt it was time, and when he had it in to have the axle's flipped he had them look over the underside well. No hidden issues lurking. We met some people who wanted to see inside of it and they told us it had very good appliances in it too (we were clueless). Dometic Fridge/freezer, porcelain potty, a Wedgewood gas stove, efficient A/C and heater. I wish it had a couple more windows in it and that will be the ONLY thing that gets us to upgrade sometime in the future. This TT has been a GEM.

  • 2010 Jayco 23FB.
We had an oven that wouldn't light (repaired by the dealer)and I found that the antennea/booster wiring was connected wrong, I fixed this later as warranty had past. Other than that we have had excellent service from this trailer. Our previous trailer was a 19BH with 0 problems in 2 years. We are very happy with the fit and finish from Jayco.
  • Hey Old guy - it would be nice of you to identify your specific brand of trailer...when you throw the net over Forest River - you cover a lot of brands and trailers....
  • Boy I hope ours doesn't fall apart.
I'm sure the usual chincy items will snap off over the years.

I wish KIT Manufacturing hadn't of died out.
We had 2 trailer built by them.
    Rock solid units both.
  • you guys were lucky. I had a forest river and they are not the smartest people on this planet. had many issues with them and I had to basically resolve them myself. good thing I knew how to do some of them. one was they put two different sized tires and wheels on the TT and we had blow outs, finally went to tire store and bought my own tires and no more blow outs. as far as I' am concerned not people friendly and customer service very poor.
  • I'm on my 4th trailer now. Owned each one 5-10 years. Never had any major problems with any of them. The prior 3 were all ultra lite weights so several minor problems such as loose interior trim etc. but never anything more substantial. First two were Coleman popups made by Fleetwood. 3rd was a Starcraft and now my current is Winnebago. The latest I've only owned 2 months but have had 3 trips and 1000 miles and so far so good.
  • I am sure there are many, many stories just like yours. Folk tend to post problems and not lack thereof, considering that the members here represent only a very small fraction of the total number of folk with RVs.
