In my reviews of these forums the last few weeks, I've read about a bunch of Goodyear G614 failures but no Sailun S637 failures. I can't see spending $500 extra to get Goodyear tires with a history of blowouts in order to replace tires on my camper that also have a history of blowouts (Power King Tow Max).Were the Goodyear failures on older models and are they improved now?

From what I've read the GY614 tires that had problems were all from several years ago. The latest ones seem to be pretty trouble free. And supposedly the damage caused by the blown Goodyear tires was covered by Goodyear. Also the Sailun tires are a pretty recent discovery by the RV'ers on this forum.However I also felt like I didn't want to spend that much money so I bought the Sailun tires. So far so good. They seem to be a very solid, well built tire. Time will tell.

My 5er has GY G614's. They are OEM tires on my 5er..I had one fail that was on my 5er when I purchased it in 07', tire date was 0606(manufactured 6th week in 06). Not much known about the Sailun tires, except they seem to have achieved some very high accolades in the Quality and Management dept. which would make me look at them the next time I replace my tires. There are several of our posters on here who are using the Sailun G rated tire and they keep us posted as to how they're doing.Bottom line, it's YOUR money, no one is going to force YOU to buy anything......YOU will purchase what YOU deem is the best for YOU. I don't see the failures with the GY G614's like they had in the 05 thru 07 tires...but, it's up to you to do the research..I don't see anything wrong with the GY G614's, though expensive and up to this point, I would look at the Sailun's next time if for no other reason than their Quality and Management achievements...something very few, if any China tire manufacturers can show us, other than Sailun.

Where the Sailun are made.If it in China just spend a little more and buy American.

Goodyear is said to pay for RV damage incase of a tire failure. Perhaps the cost of this "insurance" drives the GY tire pricing? Does Sailun pay for RV damage?

Hey, we're in agreement to a point..I too have them and they're great, but my money tree is drying up....they're TOO expensive, and if I opted to go to the 17" wheel and the GY "F" rated tire, I would be putting out even more money....all kidding aside about buying trucks, these tires aren't cheap...I never hesitated to buy them because they had zip, zero, nada completion..no tires in the "G" rated tire worth looking at as far as "I" was concerned, NOW, along comes 1, (ONE), tire that has the quality backing to show they're worth looking at, AND, THEY'RE AFFORDABLE!!! I too have about two- three years left on my G614's, I gave around 230.00 per tire , less then 1000.00 for a set of G614's, today I think they are getting around 350.00 per tire over 400 more per set then I gave. Time will tell on the Sailun Tires. It is nice to hopefully see a new game in town.

Agree with you and Chris. GY is "the only game in town" if one was/is wanting to replace their OEM "G" rated tires UP TILL NOW.. I didn't want to purchase a "no-name", China made tire that didn't have a clue about manufacturing a TRUE QUALITY PRODUCT". I also didn't want to spend even more money and go with 17.5" wheels and the F rated tire...not cheap mind you, but that was even MORE money than the GY G614's...shouldn't really "HAVE" to go that route, when a quality/economical tire might exist. When I first heard of the Sailun tires, I cut on them and treated them as I would any China manufactured tire that is put on 7,000# axles by most of the RV manufacturers to save a buck...though my 5er DID come with the GY G614's. BUT, after doing the research, found out that this company STRIVED to meet certain quality standards like my company does, and to get the accreditations that they got, it DOES mean they make a quality product, and strive to do so from year to year by trying to achieve ISO certifications.

GY will have to re-think they're pricing, OR they just don't care about the competition that has now shown up and they'll continue to be overpriced...Such is "business as usual", whether it be good or bad for GY.

5 years ago or longer I spoke to Michelin about manufacturing a G rated XPS RIB...they stated that it wasn't in the plans..and to date, it's proven true. Evidently, the "G" rated tire market isn't enough to entice Michelin to enter in and not enough for GY to lower their prices on the G614's.

So FINALLY, someone else is manufacturing a "G" rated tire that has quality built into AND is economical...IF GY doesn't care about losing some of their business....then, at least now, we are now offered a quality, economical option in the Sailun tire. Time will tell by reports from our friends who have purchased these tires. I hope they prove out...:)
