In my reviews of these forums the last few weeks, I've read about a bunch of Goodyear G614 failures but no Sailun S637 failures. I can't see spending $500 extra to get Goodyear tires with a history of blowouts in order to replace tires on my camper that also have a history of blowouts (Power King Tow Max).Were the Goodyear failures on older models and are they improved now?

From what I've read the GY614 tires that had problems were all from several years ago. The latest ones seem to be pretty trouble free. And supposedly the damage caused by the blown Goodyear tires was covered by Goodyear. Also the Sailun tires are a pretty recent discovery by the RV'ers on this forum.However I also felt like I didn't want to spend that much money so I bought the Sailun tires. So far so good. They seem to be a very solid, well built tire. Time will tell.

My 5er has GY G614's. They are OEM tires on my 5er..I had one fail that was on my 5er when I purchased it in 07', tire date was 0606(manufactured 6th week in 06). Lost the tread...don't know if it was the tire or the sagging spring pack I discovered when replacing the tires...GY replaced all four tires free of charge. Not much known about the Sailun tires, except they seem to have achieved some very high accolades in the Quality and Management dept. which would make me look at them the next time I replace my tires. There are several of our posters on here who are using the Sailun G rated tire and they keep us posted as to how they're doing.Bottom line, it's YOUR money, no one is going to force YOU to buy anything......YOU will purchase what YOU deem is the best for YOU. I don't see the failures with the GY G614's like they had in the 05 thru 07 tires...but, it's up to you to do the research..I don't see anything wrong with the GY G614's, though expensive and up to this point, I would look at the Sailun's next time if for no other reason than their Quality and Management achievements...something very few, if any China tire manufacturers can show us, other than Sailun.

Where the Sailun are made.If it in China just spend a little more and buy American.

I'm as patriotic and American as they come....I served in the military, fought in a war for my country, tears come to my eyes when I hear the Star Spangled Banner sung the way it should be, would fight to the death for my country.....BUT, when it comes to RV TIRES...IF something comes along BETTER than the G614's, AND they are a quality tire and reputable THEN, I would look at, price and possibly buy. I can only say that about the ONE tire, and ONLY ONE tire that just happens to be manufactured in China and that is the Sailun tire..Those who aren't in manufacturing and don't understand Quality control processes, manufacturing training processes and records to back the training, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, SixSigma training/qualification, may not understand just how controlled and quality oriented this makes the manufacturing process. I can understand one's hesitation to purchase a China manufactured tire. one of their biggest antagonist....still am, BUT, this Sailun tire is being manufactured to different standards, and they are high standards indeed..I will CONSIDER THEM

I may still purchase the G614 tire....but when I get ready to replace my tires, I will look at how the Sailun tire has performed and price it...It doesn't make me un-American...I'm as American as can be and more so than a lot that profess to be....hey, Cub Scouts, Eagle Scout, USAF Viet Nam Vet, (combat ribbon to prove me), so don't doubt or question my "allegiance to America....I'd die for her...BUT, we're talking 5th wheel tires here....IF the Sailun tire proves out, I very well may buy them....and I'll still be as red-white and blue and pro-American as they come.....

It's a TIRE, and one that will very well may make, as Chris state, re-think THEIR pricing on their G rated tire..hope it does.....:)

I looked at the website and the S637 doesn't come in LT235/85R16G size. The smallest rim for this tire is 17.5".

In fact the only G rated 16" tire I found was a lugged dump truck tire with a max speed rating of 70mph.

Could someone post a link to the tire in discussion?

Well I have never heard of the Sailin 637 tire. Our 04 HH came with GY G614 the sorriest tires I ever had what did not blow up only lasted 40,000 miles. So I started looking around for a different tire the GY G614 was the only G rated tire out there so after first blow up got a new one. OK, give me the name of a brand that is guaranteed to never fail .... wait a moment I'll make it a bit easier, give me the name of a brand that is guaranteed not to fail for 5 years of use with little, if any, regard for miles of use and I'll give it serious consideration .... my bet is you can't do so, nor can anyone else because that tire doesn't exist .... until it does, I'll stick with the only one that will pay for the damage .... as others have noted, the failures we experienced were years ago, as best I can remember the last one was back in '06 or '07

I'm not aware of any tire manufacturer that will guarantee a tire not to fail but there have been many RV.net members who have switched tires types/brands after failures and have not had any more failures. Seems to me that would indicate something that would cause any RV.net member to give serious consideration to changing tire brands/type after experiencing 3 tire failures which also caused major RV damage. After owning a 5th wheel for 6 years, if and when we ever purchase another, the consideration of the warranty provided by the manufacturer will be a distant second to the manufacturer who requires the least amount of warranty repairs. Warranty repairs are not free and in fact are a real hassle.
