I towed my last 5th wheel with a gooseneck adapter and had no problems at all. Where I did have an issue is taking the trailer in for service, the dealers chewed the adapter up with his fork lift while moving it. I now use the B&W companion slider in my Dodge with the new 5th wheel. I just feel more confident towing with it.
Some good advice above. If you don't have another use for the gooseneck then don't go that way. If you have another need for one, go with the B&W Companion before going with the adapter.
