To each their own, concerning what hitch system you want to use...
Have asked on several forums, for pictures and actual proof of damage to a fiver trailer caused by a goose neck adapter or from the Andersen.. so far no replies.
Something to think about...
With a goose neck or Andersen you are lifting the fiver on and off the "ball", for a conventional fifth wheel hitch... your backing into the king pin either straight on or at different angle, some even slamming into the king pin to get the jaws to lock on the hitch... over time how much damage/stress is on causing to that fifth wheel trailer frame, and to the landing gear?
Just a thought... :W
Anderson hasn't yet been around long enough. Give it a few more years, though I =do= think frames are being built a bit better these days than 10 years ago. Also, if you =slam= into a FW hitch, at least with a FW, you're doing it wrong (semis don't count). My B&W doesn't require a "slam", just a firm back into the pin. If it's not =quite= enough, the locking arm is long enough to give enough leverage pull it fully into the locked position.
