Grease The King Pin?

I recently changed from a SuperGlide to a Reese manual slide hitch. Due to the mechanics of the SuperGlide it wasn't necessary to grease the pin or use a lube plate.

I now notice a slight wear on the back side of the king pin since I have been using the Reese.

Should I put some axle grease or something on the king pin?
What is the proper PM for this?

Thanks

  • Putting grease where there is metal-to-metal contact is almost always a good idea. Metal-to-metal contact pretty much guarantees there will be wear. Putting some lube/grease on there is just a good idea. Grab some thick grease you have handy and go to it.
