I use a steel version.
But... I had the bumper replaced with real steel (1/4") and had a frame shop gusset it to the frame. Added three 2" receivers to the top. Center one for the motorcycle rack, and the other two for outriggers to keep it secure. Did about 8000 miles on it last year - no problem.
I also made a large tray that I put an large aluminum storage box on. We use this whenever we are not taking the scooter. Holds all the "stuff".
