Motorcycle hitch carrier

Hi, I would like to carry my scooter on the hitch. I have a DP Cayman 34PDD. The scooter weights near 400 pounds and the hitch is rated for this weight.

I would like to know how to attach the scooter platform to the hitch. I am thinking of three tubing coming out the hitch, one in the middle to the receiver and one on each side from the hitch tubing, probably reinforced with a plate bolted to the frame.

Anyone with pictures / experience with this set up.

I do not want to pull a trailer or a car.

    I have one I will sell you it fits the class IV receiver hitch and then the motorcycle is just strapped on has a ramp to drive up on from the side. The cycle or scooter sits along the width of the back, it is a nice set up .............it was expensive but I do not use it anymore will sell it for 200 not sure about what shipping would cost from Montana. PM me if you would like some photos or such.

    I have a Versahaul VH-SPORT that is rated at #600. The hitch for towing (behind the motorcycle) was rated for only #3000 so I added bracing that attached to the motor home frame with 2, 2 1/4" square tubes (similar to a 2" hitch). I have towed my #3500 Fusion with no issues.

    Edit: If your not going to tow a car or trailer, you won't need any special bracing. I used it like this with a #350 cycle on a 2500 miles trip from California to Michigan. It's a great way to carry a cycle.

    I would go with something like this but I would extend and attatch the two tie-down bars to the MH.

    I would be very interested on how you braced the attachment to the motor home. Would you have some picture?

    Sorry, I don't have a pic. Essentially, I made it into a 3 point attachment to the coach frame. The two points on either side of the receiver bolted to the frame. A "U" shaped frame of 2x2x1/8" wall tube bolted to the main tube of the Versahaul carrier. It adds a lot of side loading support and also some vertical support. The "U" shaped frame is removable, along the the Versahauler.

    Ok thanks, I will try to figure something out. I saw some that have 3 point attachment hitch but I do not know how to attach it to the frame, I will keep search the web.

    It could be a bit heavy but I saw many on the road and it seems so easier to pull than a trailer. I have an enclosed trailer that I use to pull with my truck camper.

    I would try to build it quite heavy duty so it does not wooble in the back.

    Go see a fabricator it's not that hard. Mine is welded.
    Never had a need to remove it. I can use it to haul
    other stuff when the mc is not on it.
