Has Best RV improved?

There was a lot of previous discussion on this forum about shady pre and post sales antics from these guys. I believe at one time they had a very low BBB rating. I recently checked BBB and it appears they are now scoring an A-. Not sure if this means much. http://www.bbb.org/northeast-california/business-reviews/recreational-vehicles-dealers/best-rv-center-in-turlock-ca-30000275

The reason I ask is I might be in the market for an Attitude 28AK in near future and Best RV just opened a new location down the road from me in Rancho Cordova (East of Sacramento). Being this close would be a big + for me. I have not yet stopped in to get feel for these guys but am curious to hear if anyone has any experience with them in the last 6-12mo and whether they have improved

  • I bought our Milan TT from them in August. I really can't stand the owner, who approves all of the deals. I was told that the listed price is the price they sell for, with no negotiation possible below that. I couldn't find a lower price anywhere, so we ended up buying from them. They claim to be the "Wal-Mart" of RV dealers. They claimed to be "throwing in" the propane tanks and battery. The propane tanks are supplied by the manufacturer, and the battery was a super-cheap piece of garbage. I tried to get a dual 6V battery upgrade from them, for which they wanted to charge me an additional $300, so I passed on that one.

When we picked up the trailer, they insisted on payment before I was able to do the pre-delivery inspection. I refused and sat there for a while until the service manager came in and agreed to do the PDI first. Sheesh.

On the positive side one of the service guys helped me hook everything up and installed the sway-bar plate.

I haven't had any problems with the unit that made me want to return there for warranty service. The few minor issues I've had have been easy to fix myself, and I don't trust them to do any work on the trailer based on my experience. I think they would find a way to charge me for it even under warranty.

Would I buy from them again? Probably if the price was the lowest I could find, which is likely. I wish other dealerships were willing to match their prices, but doesn't seem like that is happening.

Bottom line is if you don't care about service, want a low no-haggle price, and are prepared to deal with the rude owner, it's probably OK to buy from them.
  • I dealt with them this spring. I could go on forever about them but I'll keep it short and clean. If you buy there you will probably get a good price and they have a huge selection. But I would not recommend them to work on it and you will never be able to get any other dealer in the central valley to do warranty work on a RV from there. They simply refuse to due warranty work as I found out the hard way. (yes, dealers have the right to refuse warranty work, longer story, and I spoke with lots of them).
  • We had a member here that decided to go with them, best price around. As I recall the deal was good until he found problems. I just haven't heard enough good things about them to recommend them. I lived in Stockton for a while, visited them but left with that used car salesman feeling pretty fast. As said, I think the BBB is a joke - you can buy your way out of negative comments.
  • BBB ratings are a joke anyways.....if you pay them some $$$$ they will fix the ratings.
