Have a question for Sunnybrook 27RK owner

I m helping my brother. He plans to see the owner who wants to sell 1996 Sunny Brook 27RK this Saturday. The owner asked $6995. I think it is too much for that old model. I am sure need new tires which will cost a lot of money. Now here is a problem - it does not have pinbox. It is gooseneck hook up. My brother has 5th wheel hitch. He does not want gooseneck hitch. Do you know where he can buy pinbox? Do you know what is the name of factory and model? Is it an extended pinbox? Any tip would be greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Scott -- Not sure about exterior fiberglass or aluminum. You see my brother found thru craigslist and has few pix of the sunnybrook. Apparently it looks like in good a shape but you know it is best to take a look at it. Pix can fool you. Ha! Oh about tires --- do you know what size of tires? And what tires brand -- Good years? Thanks again!

It had 225/75/15 tires and I put some Michelin LT's on it.
  • My 98 was 9600 gvw and it had ST 225/7515" 6 lug and I put on 16" LTs. My 2000 was 8600 gvw and it had 5 lug and couldn't do 16". The 97 27' will most likely have 15" and MIGHT have 6 lug. Craig

Are you sure the goose neck piece doesn't come off the pin box? We've had a 98 and a 2000 SB and they had 12" wide boxes which were fairly common back then Most of the SBs I've seen came with ext. boxes about 21" but I've seen the shorter ones, about 10" shorter. You might try the SB site rvtalk or something like that. I sold our 98 30 RLFS last fall for 9200 in great shape with LOTS of goodies I added. Craig

C Schomer - I think you are right after I carefully observed pix of blur 5th wheel camper. I suspect that it may have an adopter. My brother will take a look today this afternoon. Thanks!
  • I recently sold a 1997 sunnybrook, same model as yours, for $6500. Had the twin beds up front with aluminum siding and a slide out. These are well made rv's with an aluminum frame so they are fairly light compared to others. Mine was in real nice shape with new tires. I was happy and I know the buyer was happy as well.

The gooseneck issue would not be a deal breaker for me, but may help in the negotiation process.

  • I think it's a little high but if in good shape well worth it.
  • It is indeed a little high
Book (retail) is more like $6000 (average).
Private sale is a little lower yet
  • If it has fiberglass siding I dont think it's priced high at all.
The Sunnybrooks of that era are built like tanks and have one of the strongest frames in the industry made by Leland.
You need to contact Leland for a pinbox or look for a used one, Of course any of the aftermaket pin boxes will work as well
