What do u think is appx the heaviest trailer I can buy but still be able to safely travel across continental US using a single axle f250 or 2500 series diesel, vintage 2014-2016 model tow vehicle. Prob prefer short bed if possible but not sure if that is ok.
Here's why I ask, I am still working full time in downtown msa in an office building w a parking garage. I need the tow vehicle to be my daily driver when not traveling and a dually will not fit in the parking garage.
At this time the 2500 crew cab 2wd Cummins has the highest RAWR at 6500 lbs which figures around 3100-3200 lb payload in the bed.
A 14k lb trailer may have 3000 lb pin weight plus all the other stuff you carry may put you over a 250/2500 trucks axle/tire/wheel load ratings.
I would look at 350/3500 srw (single rear wheel) trucks in the brand of your choice.
Ford F350 srw has a 7230 rawr = around 3600-3800 lb payload in the bed.
GM 3500 srw has a 7050 rawr and being a lighter truck is good for around 3800 lb payload in the bed.
Ram 3500 srw has 7000 rawr and good for around 3600-3700 lb payload in the bed.
All depending on the right truck selections
