I haven't been here for a few weeks and used the toilet tonight and when it's being flushed it fills the room with black tank smell really bad.
Is this just from sitting and it's been real hot ? Do the tanks not vent to the roof and air out there ? Any way to reduce this ? The tank is on a quarter full give or take.

I don't know what a treatment bag is ... but if it needs to be sloshing around in order to dissolve to work ... that might be the problem. Switch to something that can be dissolved in the toilet. Powder granules or liquid rather than a pod. Then flush it.
I NEVER use bleach because it is too hard on all the rubber gaskets in the valves. I've used pine-sol with good results. You could try that. How much depends on your nose.
