Help! Keystone Montana hydraulic hoses have been cut

bought a unit that had been vandalized from an auction. They took the hydraulic pump from the front storage compartment where the battery is and cut the lines going to the pump, so I can't move the slides out. I can get another pump, but does anyone know a way to DIY the hose fittings onto the existing lines that were cut? I think they are either 1/8" or 1/4". I'd rather not replace the whole length of lines if I can as they will still reach the pump if I can find a way to crimp new fittings on. Any suggestions on where to buy fittings and maybe some sort of tool kit? The unit is an 06 Montana with 2 slides, rear kitchen

Got a pin hole sized leak in one of my hoses, naturally it was the longest one to the rear most slide, no you don't want to have to pull those hoses, and replace, Its quite a job.

Pretty sure they are a 1/4" ID hose, the trick will be to find fittings to fit the OD, they are a cheap hose with a different OD then the replacement I had made up. The replacement was just a standard 1/4 hose, but .040 bigger in the OD. I am sure the replacement was just a standard size 1/4" hydraulic hose.

I would sure pursue it, thats a monster job removing the belly panels to get to the hoses. Hopefully you can find the right fittings, and tool to crimp .

Might want to try finding the reusable fittings, that do not have to be crimped.

Try a John Deere tractor dealer. Farm folks don't pay "RV" prices.

A farmer is a person that buys everything retail and sells everything wholesale.

I don't know where your farm is, but I guess you've never met a old Yankee farmer from New England... I grew up on a farm in Vermont and I can tel you that the old Yankee thrift is still engrained in me... We never pay retail if we can get it wholesale.
  • I'm out of a farming family. One of my Uncles always said that when a farmer had a good year he bought a new Cadillac and went to Florida for the winter. When he had a bad year he bought a new Chevy and went to Florida for the winter.
My Grandmother left the farm in High Point NC to the other uncle haha.

  • Weatherhead, Parker, Gates and Aeroquip all make reusable hose ends. Go to any hose place and they will have them. We kept them in the log truck and they work fine.
  • Most towns especially those with some farmers near will have a hydraulics dealer. Either check your yellow pages if you or do an internet search for your town name and hydraulics. They will be happy to make custom hoses for you. And if the one we have is any example they will be on the cheap side too.
  • Go to a hydraulic shop or google. I think the fittings are called Stratoflex they are reusable hydraulic hose fittings. We used to use them on Drilling rigs.
  • Hydraulic hoses run under extream pressure, so I doubt that a do it yourself fix will work. Hydraulic lines break and need repair on construction equipment. So you should be able to find a place near you that can make up new lines for you. I would take in existing lines and the replacemant pump to repair place and they should be able to help you.
