Here We Go Again Hopefully!

Hi everyone! Again, good to be back! As you know from my last post, we put an offer in on a unit, but had some concerns. Well, guess what? After MONTHS of searching again, I found EXACTLY what I want at a dealer very close to us! A 2004 Gulfstream Yellowstone 30FSK! I'm so excited!

My question is, I want a fireplace put in it. Sure, the dealership can do it, but DH feels he can do it. Just an electric plug in. For all of you that have added a fireplace, where did you get it and about how much was it? Was it hard to put in! Thanks! Jeri
  • Before we bought our current unit, I would've said that having a fireplace is crazy. Now that we have one, we would not have another rig without it. Very nice to have for heat without having to run the propane. Ours came in our unit. Ooops, now you're going to want a Bighorn! :W

  • But where would I get the insert? The dealership measured and we have the dimensions. Very little carpentry work. Dealer price is $700 installed with carpentry work. Does this sound reasonable?
  • I have a fireplace in my current rig, that fits and works well. However I have seen a few freestanding fireplaces and fake wood stove that would be easy to install and fit the bill.
If you DH is handy it would not be too hard to do.
The best part is it would be a lot cheaper than a factory installed unit.
  • Yes, that is the ONLY thing that is missing. I fell in love with the GS Prairie Schooner and it did have the fireplace, but had some concerns about a crack (see post a couple months ago). Now, after searching for months, I found EXACTLY the same thing, only minus the fireplace that the PS had. Make more sense now?
