Hershey show recommendations??

I posted some pictures on the Grand Design owners forum of the Momentum 385th that my dealer sent me from the open house in Indiana http://reflectionowners.com/ under the Momentum tag. I am also waiting to see the pictures of the 385th. I ordered based on a floor plan diagram and spec sheet. The issues with triple axles can be found all over rv.net. Don't want to bad mouth it. You can research it and decide on your own. For me, I didn;t want anything to do with 3 axles after reading and talking to RV dealers.

Also, can you expand on issues with triple axle trailers. I understand the cost of an additional set of tires but I have zero experience with them and we are negotiating on a trailer that is a triple axle.

IT's time for me to chime in.

I have been researching Toy Haulers for the last few months. I have a big enough truck that I can pull the bigger Toy Haulers. I was looking at the popular brands such as Cyclone, XLR, Raptor, Fuzion, Voltage, etc. I knew from talking to some truck drivers that I personally didn't want triple axles. That is just my opinion. Many nice triple axle Toy Haulers out there but I didn't want to deal with some of the issues as tire scrubbing and other issues.

At the Hershey show I went in every one of these units with my wife. We had worked out a preliminary deal for the new Fuzion Chrome but still wanted to look at the rest of the Toy Haulers My wife was turned off by most because of the small double kitchen sinks as well as other things. We had heard about the Grand Design Momentum that was debuting at the Hershey show so I did my research before the show. I was pleasantly surprised by the Momentum. The Momentum at the show was beautiful and I liked the features such as double 8,000 pound axles instead of 3 6,000 pound axles, 17.5 inch wheels with H rated tires, color match roof to sidewalls, painted front cap, aluminum steps, trail air pinbox, etc. We were told about another floor plan that was not there but was debuting the following week at the open house in Indiana. As soon as my wife and I saw the new floor plan we were sold. I was able to work out a phenominal deal for the new Grand Design Momentum 385th and I purchased it. I could not be happier with my decision and I have no regrets. After I worked out the deal I was asked to speak with the President and CEO of Grand Design Don Clarke on the phone. He was such a pleasure to speak with.

Following the show I dug deeper into researching Grand Design. I found that the other products that Grand Design had manufactured like the Solitude and Reflection were being highly raved about on forums. I also found that the three men that started Grand Design, Don Clark and the Fenech brothers, were the same three that started Keystone which produced the Fuzion and Raptor and also the Alpine I currently own. I am now sold on Grand Design and the Momentum. I believe when making a purchase this important to look at all the facts such as quality of construction, will the company stand behind there products and last the quality of the dealership you will be purchasing from. Thats why I feel very comfortable that I went with the Momentum and purchesed it from a great dealership, Tom Schaefers RV Super Store, whom I purchased my current Alpine from.

If anyone is looking for a great quality Toy Hauler make sure you look at the Grand Design Momentum before you make your final decision.

For 100k I would expect that.

Well, if you are willing to pay $100K (which is MSRP on most of the big TH's), then I will buy you a table and chair set. Have you really looked at most toyhaulers? There are very few that use a dedicated dining area.

Im in the same boat. Have been looking at the Torque on line for a while. The price is atractive but I am in S Eastern PA and dont have a dealer within a few hours. I dont mind making the drive but I do worry about repairs etc. Would suck to drive it a few hours for warranty work. I also would have like to seen the 301 and a few others but the 325 was nice and at least gave me an idea of the interior. Plus we actually like the 1/2 bath just need a 12' garage.

We have the same concerns about needing service, but my understanding is that Heartland will allow you to choose a private service provider. You might want to contact Heartland directly for more details on that. We happen to have an independent service facility within 3 miles of us, and before we buy I will be confirming that this facility would qualify under the Heartland service provider policy.

18,000lb GVW on 2 axles, (2X8000lbs axles instead of 3 cheap ones) and the only drop frame on a toyhauler for real storage.

Oh, and the Show pricing was $76000, which is where the main stream builders were also..

There were 6 sold signs on the show unit, so someone like it!

I am certainly not arguing that fact. We walked through the one they had and it was very nice. The sales rep seemed to have his sales pitch down pat :-) With that said you can easily get XLR's Fuzions etc in the upper 50's to low 60's so you are still talking a $15-$20K difference. That's a nice chunk of change and more then I have spent total on some RV's in the past. I like their thinking but $76K is out of the questions so I moved on pretty quick. I do like the dropped frame for storage as you mentioned. You could live in that storage compartment. But... I would really have concerns with any off road towing. It sure looked to me like the drop frame caused it to loose a lot of ground clearance. My toys are off road toys and the last thing I need is my TH getting stuck on the way in. Beautiful unit though!
