Hijacker vs Superglide

Hello all,

Just purchased a 5th wheel (and a 6.5' GMC 2500). I have a couple of questions about the Hijacker and Superglide.

1 - Has anyone had any problems with either?
2 - Any major differences between the two?
3 - Thinking of going with an undermount. Are they hard to install yourself?
4 - Would you consider buying the head used?
5 - Where have you got the best deal for purchasing?

Thanks for your help!

Craig
  • X4 on the Superglide. We have had ours for a year now and it has performed flawlessly. Never a doubt about whether or not the jaw has engaged.

Best price we found was at Tweety's. Here is the unit we bought.

You never know when you may have to maneuver in a tight area or in inclement weather. Having the auto-slide capability is a definite plus.
  • I have the newer Superglide. Just spray it with wd40 and use it. No worry about truck/trailer clearance. I like it. A lot.
  • I have had my Hijacker in two trucks and with two 5th wheels starting in 1997. I will be sorry to see it go some day. Never has been a question of it being latched correctly! Chris
  • Been using my 16K Superglide since 2003. I highly recommend this hitch. Like kennethwooster said dismanteling every couple of years is something us with older Superglides have to do. In a way it is a good thing due to the fact you can inspect all the parts put it together and use knowing everything is in good condition.

  • I cannot replay on the Hijacker. I've used the Pullright for a lot of years. Its a very durable and easy to use hitch. All I did not like was taking it down about every year sanding the bars down and then reapplying the slip plate. The new hitch has been redesigned and all you do is spray a little wd40 on the slide and go. I loved the way the hitch and unhooked. I've had those that it was a war to get it unhooked. I have purchased a f350 DRW long bed. I will go with the b&W. I've never heard anything bad about that hitch. I started to go with Pullrights non slide hitch, but can save 500.00 going with B&W. They also have a slider. Pulright has been the go to hitch for a lot of years, since it was auto slide and most were by hand Now a lot of different companies are making auto sliders I would still go with Pullright if I had to have one.
