Take a look at the various B&W Companion hitches. They have several in their lineup now, and all are great. The company is a great as their products, too. I have the Turnover Ball and Companion as we also have a gooseneck trailer, so wanted both. I don't think that a slider is necessary in all cases, though you might think differently.
