Hitching At an Angle

I have un-hitched with no problems at some sharp angles in the past... tight uneven sites. To hitch back up to leave I pulled the hitch down the rails and positioned the plate/jaws towards the pin and eased in until it locked.

I was extremely careful of the tailgate position.

In 7 years of using my superglide , I have never ran into an issue with unhooking . .

Pullrites owners manual states 16 degrees. At least mine does. Might vary by year. I've never had a case where I had to hitch or unhitch at extreem angles.

Well it is not impossible to unhitch from the truck with the superglide at an angle it is just not as easy as it normally is. And unhitching isn't the real chore with this method it is hooking it all back up, if you have to keep the same angle as when you disconnected. The way you disconnect is to pull the pins that hold the hitch head onto the hitch. Then you raise the front of the camper until it clears enough to drive the truck out. Then you can pull the hitch release and mount it back on the hitch or if you will have to hook back up at the steep angle you can leave it hanging on the pin. The hard part as I see it will be to get the hitch head aligned with the hitch so you can lower the camper and put the pins back in the hitch.

With my Curt 20k and its dual jaws it doesn't not close properly if at an angle. Straight on is best.

I don't mind hitching at any angle, but I avoid UNHITCHING at an angle because doing so would leave the trailer tires twisted. (That's with tandem axles.) Once in Florida during a rainy spell, I backed into a muddy unpaved site and had to have someone with 4WD help rescue my F350. On hitching up to leave, I backed the F350 in at a 90 degree angle over ground that wasn't too soft.

Same here.

There is one perfect spot at one of our favorite camp areas that require a almost 90 degree back in..... to get the perfect level/view and privacy.
When I hook up I always set the trucks hitch height so the hitch slides under the pin box just a small amount unlike some folks I've seen that lift the trailers jacks off the ground.
