Regarding the reference to insurance...the rig is paid off and the deductible is only $100 on a comprehensive claim. A "quality" repair facility is nowhere close to my location. I prefer, when within my capabilities, to do repairs myself.
The question, perhaps not worded well, was the sentence with the question mark Is there a reason not to: replace insulation, cover the hole with sheet metal, seal it all with Eternabond? I was just asking for opinions on this repair method since I am not sure a repair shop would do it much differently and this method I can do!
