How big of a truck for safe and comfortable towing?

The Ford 6.4 is the last engine you should be looking at for fuel mileage.
For what it's worth my '05 Duramax gets about 7% better fuel mileage than either the '03 or '06 Ford 6.0 diesels we have at work.
A Cummins (no G in Cummins) with DEF should get better mileage than the previous models.
If that were my trailer I'd be looking at a RAM 4500 to pull it.
