That is interesting! Most of the used ones in our area have the open bath! - jnharleyExplorerMaybe I am looking at different 5th wheels but most of the ones I have seen have the enclosed bath.
- SlownsyExplorerWater dos not disappear out of water traps if instalet properly and wehicle travels as it shut and not bucking like a brongo.
- jjjExplorerI have the open bathroom for 8 years though I am use to it I prefer the all in one. My toilet area is not vented for heat or air so in the winter it is cold and in the summer it is warm. As for the smell I think that some smell does come in because a lot of people forget that when traveling the p traps loose the water that holds back the smell from the tanks and they need to be refilled with some water. I get some smell from my kitchen sink after we have been on the road do to the p trap water lose, all I do is add some water and it is gone.

Our first FW had the open bath and when we were looking for a new FW, if it didn't have the side aisle enclosed bath, I didn't look at it. Didn't like the light coming in, my hubby showers at 6 am, (in the bedroom? no thanks) guests were confused/embarrased about coming into our bedroom to wash their hands after using the bathroom, when guests spent the night it REALLY didn't work well. I also didn't like towels hanging up in my bedroom all the time, but thats just me.
That was our situation. Others may be different.
These are things that we had thought of. I don't know how much company we would have, but I suppose that it could feel awkward to some.
In my humble opinion, regardless of how big the unit is, or the bath layout, it's really only going to be comfortable for two people. We would never buy one considering guest accomodations. We buy for our use and comfort; any guests should understand that. - WhitehouseLVExplorer III

If you can smell any odors from any of the waste tanks then there is something WRONG......bad seals, bad air admittance valves, bad vents....bad, bad something period!
As to the shower/sink in the bedroom......NO thanks.
Bedrooms typically have carpet......showers drip water from door when opening, spray from shower head gets out of shower etc. Wet carpet...no thanks.
We picked a floorplan with a full bathroom for that reason.
Trailers are just shoe-boxes on wheels. Just so many ways you can turn them/partition them.
So pick the floor plan that works for you and your needs.
JUST the kind of thing I needed to hear! Thanx!!
A bathmat or rug would likely solve that problem. - Tango__AE7UIExplorerThis is definitely a personal choice.
We prefer the toilet in its own "room" with the rest open as it "appears to be a larger bedroom. - UppercrustExplorerOur first FW had the open bath concept, commode was in its own seperate room. We had a curtain go across our bed, not much privacy with kids. New one has enclosed bathroom, I didn't mind the open concept. I like both concepts.
- MookieKatExplorerI can see that there are pros and cons to both!
- RedF-350ExplorerI wouldn't even consider a unit with a closed in bath. To claustrophobic. I like the big roomy feeling of the open style.
