The fact is, most of us spend very little time off the grid. A built in genny is an awful lot of money for something that is so heavy, takes up valuable basement space & really should be used regularly if it is to be worthwhile & reliable.
Most of us get along just fine with a lightweight, reliable, fuel sipping, portable inverter genny along with as many amps that can be put in the battery compartment, coupled with a nice quiet inverter which will get you through the occasional Walmart stop without the need of the genny at all.
