How much grease?
I read that we should put some grease on the hitch head of the 5th wheel. Is this true? How much? How often? I am getting my first one this week and would like to know.

- grease only the pin, use lube plate, no mess
- Need grease. People think the lube plate is all they need. The PIN needs something too, although it doesn't move much. I spray BOESHIELD on the pin before hitching. It's kinda wax e. Great stuff.
- If you want to use grease, my suggestion would be to start with a small amount. Check things during or after the outing. You can see if it got dry.
- Like others have said, use a lube plate and that will minimize the mess. I add a little grease to my kingpin and a little to jaws on my Companion before each trip. Then when the trip is over I remove all grease from pin box and hitch. That way it doesn't attract all the dirt and stuff.
- Use a silicone disk. Much cleaner.
- Best thing is to get a lube plate like this. Then just a little grease on the king pin. Much less messy than greasing the whole hitch plate.
