How to clean RV cover

Took the cover off the RV yesterday, and wife sees how dirty it is and wants to clean it, as this is on a 26 foot fifth wheel and is pretty big as it covers the whole thing to the ground I told her best to find a place that can put it in a machine, anybody have any ideas on hand cleaning something this large?
She feels there must be a way to clean it at home, and is trying to find a cleaner that would be safe to use on it.
Anyone else clean their own covers?
Thanks
  • Yeah, I sweep off the "birds nest" when it's dry and before I store it for the Summer... :)

Been saying I'm going to get a new one for the last several years, but until it tears to the point I can't use it, I'm good.. :)

  • I've never worried too much about mine either. Think I would just sweep it off as best as possible and call it a day.
  • why don't you put it on the TT and spray it down and use a long handled brush onit
  • Mine looks just like Mitch's (except for the bird nest in the corner :B) and I've tried to find a commercial washing machine in launder mats big enough but never have.
  • When my cover was new, (ADCO) I would lay it as flat as I could on the driveway and spray it with a hose and using a shop broom sweep the dirty spots.. Didn't use any kind of soap or cleaner... Even thou it was a nice sunny day, it took awhile for it to dry, since it was mostly laying on the ground and all..

Well, that was the last time I washed it! :)

Still got it after 10 years now and it's a mess, but the inside where it touches the trailer is still clean and no rips or anything.. It's just a mess on the outside, but most of it is on the roof (actual MOSS growing on it!)... After it all dries it does flake off some... ;)

The only machines I could think of would have to be those industrial Hotel ones that are like 6' in diameter and all....

At least if your cover is dirty, it's doing it job and the reason you use it on the RV! :)

    Good luck!

  • I don't have a cover but I know Oxyclean worked great for my awning, kind of same type of fabrics.
