On my Atwood drives the motor is on the end of the jackshaft (threaded rod) and you can get a 5/8 socket in the back end of the motor housing and turn the whole assembly. Unfortunately the slide only moves about a quarter inch for each full turn of the shaft. A power drill or an air motor to turn the socket might be a good idea. I would NOT use an impact wrench.
