This is probably a dumb question but we are very very newbies!How do people get their ATVs from the RV campsite to the trails if they just have a Toy Hauler? We bought two ATVs and are planning to purchase a Toy Hauler. I can only guess that we need to either bring a trailer along with the TH to transport the ATVs or drive the TH to the trail locations. I am in Alberta and you can tow a TH and a trailer behind the truck. This seems like a lot of trouble though but so does moving TH every outing. We are going to British Columbia this summer and you can't tow two items in BC. I guess we have to drive TH in this situation?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks, Linda

You could unhitch the toy hauler and put one in the bed of the truck. With a special rack on the truck, you could take two.

Depends how far you need to row. If a short distance at a reasonable speed, then you can set up the toys with a tow bar and tow behind the truck. sample #1 sample #2

When I had a toy hauler my truck had a flat deck on it instead of a box, so I just put them on there and left the hitch at the camp.

Thank you so much for the responses! My husband wants a 5th Wheel Toy Hauler so we won’t be able to use a deck. We believe a 5th Wheel is easier to maneuver. Texan, we will look into this tow bar, this might work. The campsite isn’t too far from the trails but we would have to go on the road. One website for the tow bar said “Off-Road Towing Only” but then later down it says “Do not use on highways where minimum speed limits are 45 MPH” and “Twin Ball Hitch is recommended when towing two ATV's on roads where you have greater side clearance for the ATV's”. I’ll have to try to find the rules to use this in BC, exactly how far the trails are from the campsite and if we are feeling “lucky” and just do it anyway (maybe I’ll look into how much the fine would be ? ).Old-Biscuit, thank you for thinking outside the box but we would need to go on the road.

You can for a sxs in TN as an MSV - medium speed vehicle for use on 40 mph roads and under.

When we had a TH, we flat towed out of camps where ATV use was restricted.

Now, we have an enclosed trailer and truck camper so we no longer have those worries. The TC can stay behind at camp and the "garage" gets towed to the staging area. We went with an enclosed trailer so we could carry items and tools and keep them out of the elements and thieves eyes.

This. They aren't the easiest to find but campsites with trailhead access are the only way to go. We've found a bunch where we ride in ME.

Up to now we carried a little & light Harbor Freight boat trailer frame with us. Take the hitch out of the truck, load one ATV in truck. Ramp doubles as 'floor' on boat trailer frame to carry 2d ATV. Works pretty good for us but as I get older it's getting a lot more difficult for me to load the boat trailer in the truck so...

Project for this summer is to make a light, take-apart wood frame for truck bed so I can lay pair of cut-to-length ramps across bed to hold the ATVs.

Use the bed of the truck. When you park your Toy Hauler don't disconnect the 5th wheel hitch, instead remove the hitch from the bed. Then raise the Toy Hauler up a bit and pull the truck away leaving the hitch attached to the Toy Hauler. Then use a ramp to load/unload the ATVs one by one. It's a pain but keeps you legal.

Wouldn't be the first time ATVs were ridden from campsite, down along side of road to trails

OLD BISCUIT once again you beat me to the post, that was one of the ideas I was going to say, the other was find campgrounds closer to the trails you want to ride, or a place near the trails you can leave the truck and trailer while you ride at the end of the day just boondock it right where you are, now that's the real point of buying a well equipped toy hauler with a gen set

not much help to you there;

where we camp in moffet county co. and moab ut. quads are allowed on county roads.

we mostly boondock any way, so ride right out of camp. same when we camp in the nat. forests.

more ane more states are becoming tav friendly . hope country-province can to.
