How to open garage door from inside?

We have the MorRyde Zero-G Ramp door. When we were touring one of this model camper (Spartan 1245), my wife accidentally pulled something and the door fell open. We didn't buy that unit because the dealers were buttheads.

We ultimately bought another Spartan 1245 (a 2017 vs a 2018) but I'm pretty sure both doors are the same.

Does anyone know if/how the door opens from the inside?

If you look for two holes along the inside top of the door there are manual latches in the holes. Put your finger in each hole and pull down, you should hear a click. I'm tall so I can reach them but you may need a step stool.

Thanks, you were exactly right. The problem is, we have the sliding screen doors and they were incredibly difficult to get to. From the ground, I don't think I could have gotten to them if I had wanted to. And from the bed, it was a long reach for me on one side and an unpleasant one on the other.

I did the one and my daughter did the other. I waited outside to "catch" the door. Interestingly, it popped but wouldn't open more than an inch or two and from the bed in a raised position, my daughter couldn't really push it out. I had to actually pull it down.

Even if I tie a grab handle to it, I'm not 100% certain if the kids will be able to push it open. My 14 year old might, but my 5 year old definitely couldn't.

Guess we go back to the emergency exit window for the driver's side of the camper. The front-side has the actual garage exit door.

    Thanks trikeflyer for your info!

Sounds pretty dangerous for someone outside.

With the zero-gravity door, it lowers gently and not wildly out of control.

Either way, in the case of true emergency, it’s a risk I’m willing to take. If they do it otherwise, there will be punishments that it shouldn’t happen at all or definitely not more than once.
  • Interesting. I'll take a closer look. Is it the kind of thing that you can tie a pull to it (something my teenage daughter could reach in an emergency)?
