Fluid level needs to be checked with all slides retracted and landing gear up. Now that he has added fluid with those extended it will probable overflow when they are in and up. Extended hyd. cylinders have more volume than retracted ones do thus fluid level goes down in tank.
Level =shouldn't= change much, since oil's filling the other side of the cylinder as it moves, either in or out. In my experience, the main things that change oil level are temperature (oil will expand a bit), leaks (obvious) and air being sucked in somewhere (usually an extreme low oil situation) and causing foaming.

No that's not true at all. With my leveling jacks and slides out, the reservoir drops considerably (closer to 75% empty). It also describes it in the manual.
OK. I =ass=umed double-acting cylinders; guess they, mostly, are single-acting and use springs to retract. They'd =have= to be double-acting on slides and the landing legs, or they couldn't retract.
