We have had at least 12 RV fridges from Norcold and Dometic. In slides and not in slides. I have heard over the years many tall tales of “hard” ice cream. I have added fans outside and even took off the vent covers in efforts to get the freezer colder.
We are in Florida. It’s hot here. Our ice cream has never been hard in any of our freezers. Yes we use fans in the fridge-keeps from freezing that stuff as we set all our fridges to COLDEST setting. Never met anyone that could keep ice cream truly cold down here either, unless they had a residential unit. It may just be a regional thing but no ice cream sandwiches here except from the local campground store if they have em. Also our ice freezes into a block in a few days if untouched.
