Ice Cream
This is my 2nd Norcold 1200 series frig and my ice cream still will not get rock hard. Freezer is @ -1 and I have tried both both sides. Am I the only one out there that has this problem? TOM

- Are you sure it's not the ice cream type/brand?
Zero degrees should freeze your ice cream rock hard provided it's the cheapo kind that has more water than fat in it.
In my world, if one's going to eat ice cream it might as well be the real thing- that means so much butterfat that there's no way for it to freeze rock hard. Francesca Knowles wrote:

:B:B:B:B- That's pretty normal for a Nevercold! That's why we now have a residential fridge.
- Put a cup of water in the freezer. If it freezes to ice, the freezer is doing its job. Blame it on the ice cream.
- my dometic won't keep sherbet real hard if it's really hot outside.
- Sometimes our Norcold is not too cold. One thing is if the freezer frosts up it won't cool properly. It will make the freezer/fridge run and run trying to get to temp and will cause an oveheat eventually and pop the button in the back. We let our run in storage and it did that, I don't know how extra moisture got in. Possibly the drain tube. Reset once but kicked out some minor yellow on the burner assembly but no odor but we are thinking time for the Amish unit depending on what FreedomCare says. May need a new Fridge/Freezer.
- Buy your ice cream in the rectangular box and put it on the bottom and against the back wall of the left side. Works better if the larger side is against the back wall where the cooling comes from.
- Mine does not either, but if it is an issue you might try one of those fredge fans to circulate the cold air inside the box better. Besides you can scoop more if it is soft. :)
- Ours doesn't either. I put ours in the ice machine where we were workamping. The ice machine didn't even keep it as firm as our Norcold. We just don't try to keep ice cream in larger containers anymore. We eat less of it now, so better for our diet anyway. If I do buy at the store I buy a pint and we share it -- treat time!
