Ice cream?

Why won’t RV freezers keep ice cream frozen? Meat freezes, ice freezes but ice cream is always mush.
  • Ours freezes it so hard you can't dish it up...….just adjust the temp control to make it right...…….no problems now/
  • Set my fridge on high Friday to get a quick cool down and forgot about it till Sunday past, everything in the fridge was frozen top to bottom, and that was in my fw, even a dish of peaches on the bottom shelf was frozen solid, must be a dam good fridge to do that, won't make that mistake again, back to a 3 setting and everything good today but lost a lot of produce.
  • Mine doesn't keep it frozen either. Maybe a piece of dry ice under it?

Ours keeps ice cream at a great firmness for scooping. We have remote temp monitor and freezer runs about 0 to -5.
  • I added a computer fan inside the fridge. Freezer easily keeps ice cream frozen.
  • Ice Cream is easily scooped at 6*F - 10*F

To keep it frozen hard temp needs to be -5*F - 0*F

Most RV absorption fridges freezers are at 10*F - 5*F

WHen an RV absorption fridge has been properly installed, has 0 clearances, no dead air spaces and good Draft it is quite capable of sustaining 0*F or lower temps
Unfortunately, RV MFGs do NOT install them properly....too wide of clearances, dead air spaces, lousy draft.
But they do shine when it comes to Bells & Whistles
  • Ours does fine with ice cream treats and single serve cups. Never tried a half gallon.
