Don't get me wrong, I want one of the Viair units. But for now, my cheap 3 gallon pancake compressor works for me.

We were running 110 psi on our tires and had each tire weighted and based on the tire chart ran our tires at 95psi for a year. We got some real bad wear on the outside and inside edges of all four tires. The following was pointed out to me and I have gone back to 110 and it has solved our wear problem.

"Unless trying to resolve poor ride quality problems with an RV trailer, it is recommended that trailer tires be inflated to the pressure indicated on the sidewall of the tire. Trailer tires experience significant lateral (side-to-side) loads due to vehicle sway from uneven roads or passing vehicles. Using the inflation pressure engraved on the sidewall will provide optimum load carrying capacity and minimize heat build-up.

Also use the power tank when on the road or in camp and it has worked well. Don't need any electrical power and tank has lasted a few years now.

There are differing opinions on this. I would consider the significant weight transfer while trailer towing and relying on dead scale weight at each tire is, in many peoples opinion, not sufficient for trailer towing considering the forces at play. Unfortunately, those forces are not easy to measure. I think it makes sense to inflate to max psi to get the most capacity out of your tire to allow for weight shifts while towing. In all my years of towing and inflating to max psi, I have never had uneven tire wear.

Oh yea...I use an electric campbell-hausfeld that is capable of 110 psi and always carry an inverter. I wouldn't want to go from 0 to 110 with it though. I think that the viair is a good looking product and may go that route when mine wears out.

If it says 110 on the sidewall keep it simple and run 110 in each tire. Over or under inflating your tires will cause excessive heat which will damage your tires.

The 110V or 12V compressors are fine - several good choices, as already posted.

Yes - I do have those. (110V = campground use).
However, my *preference* on the road is a CO2 system like Power Tank or one of their competitors.

No wait, no power connections necessary - whatever pressure you need it's "right now"..:C

You can set up your own for about 1/2 the price of a Power Tank system - and it will never be "deceased"..;)

In order to do that you need to weigh each tire not the total.
Tires on the same axle must then inflated to the weigh spec for the greater of the two.
