This past weekend the second step on the inside steps that lead into the bedroom failed and dropped downward into basement. The step is still attached but a gap is present showing the only thing holding it was cheap staples. Has anyone had this to happen in their fifth wheel and do you have a suggested remedy.I removed the the wood grate in front of the steps and found no brace support under the step. one would think that a manufacturer the size of Keystone would have better QC than this!

Sounds to me like they forgot to pump a few screws up into the riser. They will tack stuff together with staples, then screw it off for strength. Guess the coffee whistle blew and someone forgot where they were at with the stair assembly. You know, I really feel for people who aren't able to fix the myriad of problems these products are plagued with off the line. I'm a contractor. Both times we have purchased a big rig, I've gone over it and fixed the inevitable problems. We do a ton of research and subscribe to the principle of cheapest is rarely best. We have owned an 08 Jayco Designer and are presently in a 08 Carriage Carri-Lite. These are IMHO decent quality trailers. Consequently problems have been minor in nature (knock on wood). I really feel for the couple who have worked like dogs all their lives and want to spend some time enjoying life in a nice rig, but are plagued with quality issues. It just ain't right!!

We had a 2010 Keystone Montana and there was a center brace under both steps.

We have a Forest River/Prime Time Crusader and have put things back together from day one. The dealers/service departments leaves a lot to be desired on their quality also.
