Installing antenna booster

I just recently bought a newer 5th wheel trailer(cougar 28sgs) and I'd like to install a antenna booster that goes on both the tv coax lines. It's the kind that plugs in.

Anyone have any idea where the 2 cable lines meet and is it accessible?

    I think you would get better response on the Tech part of the forum, but I think if you connect boost to cable at any junction, it will boost throughout the coach. If you have a poor antenna (omni), like I do, it may be best to change to a better more capable one.

    RV antennas come with antenna boosters already. It should be located where the coax connects between the wall and one of your TVs. It is typically just a small button on the plate. A light comes on when you press it for OTA reception, but you need to turn it off for cable reception.

    In my two RV's the ANTENNA WALL PLATE is just a switch connection and the BOOSTER AMPLIFIER is actually inside the antenna assembly up on the roof.


    My units are older and have never dealt with the omni type newer design round antenna... I think if I had one of those I would change out for the BATWING type haha...

    The newer design promotes automatically search for signals I reckon etc...

    In my opinion it s very hard to get any better than this older type install...

    Roy is correct, the button just turns on/sends power to antenna booster in the head on roof. I think OP is talking about a 120 AC plug in booster, to ramp up existing system.

    Won't work......
    Coax already has 12V DC on it...adding 120V AC not so good

    Unless OP disconnects 12V DC supply OR has a non-amplified antenna

    Course it could just be an issue with proper 'aiming' of antenna head, turning on existing amplifier etc
    OP wasn't clear on what antenna he has

    As usual, I agree with Old-Biscuit. More info is needed to know just what OP has, or is asking. Years ago, I had a Challenger FW, with a crank up Bat Wing TYPE antenna. The ends were more bow tie shaped, and was non-amplified. I did, in this case, successfully use a 120V booster/amplifier to receive much improved OTA reception.

    Ok, thx. I'll take a look and see if there is a switch where the coax goes into the wall.
