Installing new "D" weather stripping on slidewout

Am in pursuit of information on the correct way to clean and install new 'D' shaped weather stripping.

Have purchased new white "D" shaped weather stripping which is about 1" wide and high. Has the self sealing tape to stick on slide.

I need to know how to remove the old weather stripping.
I have used a razor blade and removed the weather stripping but still have the cellophane and glue sticking to the slide. How does this come off? Do I need to apply heat and alcohol, or what?
Thank you for your input.
  • I would try mineral spirits in a small area!
Call the weatherstrip company, I'm sure they can help!
  • Might try some GooGone, it works pretty well, again try a small area first.
  • I did mine two days ago. Got as much of the old off as possible with sharp scraper and spray bottle with Acetone. I didn't get it all but applied the new D seal and it stuck perfectly, no problem.

Razor blade and Goo-Gone is doing the trick.
Going to wash area with car soap then let dry.
When dry will clean area with alcohol before attempting it install new weather stripping.
    Thanks to all.
